Data Security

In short: Your voice never leaves your device. Microphone tools analyse sound inside your browser, nothing is recorded or uploaded, and visitors have no accounts, passwords or payment details on this site. The only data that exists is small and listed below.

This page explains what data VoiceRangeTest.com handles, where it lives and how it is protected. It adds detail to our privacy policy and cookies policy, which remain the formal documents.

What data exists, and where

Your tool results and audio are never passed to the analytics or advertising scripts.

How we checked the audio claim

On 27 September 2026 we read the live script of every tool, including the Voice Range Test, the Pitch Detector and the Note Identifier. None contains network code (no fetch, XMLHttpRequest, sendBeacon or WebSocket calls) and none uses MediaRecorder, the browser feature for recording audio. The tools read the microphone through the Web Audio API, analyse short slices of sound and keep only the result on screen.

The same applies to audio files: the Song Key Finder and the Note Identifier decode a file you choose inside your browser. Nothing is sent to our server.

Your microphone permission

Your browser asks before any page can use the microphone, and you can say no or change your mind at any time in the site settings of your browser. A tool only listens while it is running. The main pitch tools release the microphone as soon as you press stop, and closing the page always releases it; your browser’s microphone indicator shows when it is in use.

Browser storage you control

The Vocal Range Calculator saves your last five calculations in your browser’s local storage so you can see them next time. The Tone Generator, Audio Frequency Test, Online Metronome and Interval Ear Training keep a short history in session storage, which the browser clears when you close the tab. This data never leaves your device. To remove it, clear this site’s data in your browser settings.

How the site itself is protected

  • The whole site is served over HTTPS, so pages travel encrypted between our server and your browser.
  • Visitors have no user accounts, so there are no visitor passwords, profiles or payment details to leak.
  • Contact happens by email only.
  • There are no comment forms or sign-up forms on the site, so the only personal data we receive directly is what you choose to email us.

Advertising and analytics

Display ads are served by Journey by Mediavine, and Google Analytics measures visits. These services use their own cookies and process data such as IP address and device details under their own security practices. You can manage ad choices through the privacy link in the site footer, including the US opt-out, and through the consent message where it is required.

What no website can promise

No website, network or email system is perfectly secure. We keep the data we handle to a minimum, which is the best protection we can offer, and we will tell affected people and the authorities where the law requires it if a breach affects personal data we hold.

Report a security problem

If you find a vulnerability or something that looks wrong, email contact@voicerangetest.com with the page URL and what you saw. Please don’t test in ways that could harm the site or other visitors. General questions can go through the contact page.
